My professional focus is working with people helping them solve their problems. I believe it’s important to add to the list of an individual’s coping skills so that he/she can make better choices when in stressful situations instead of going on auto-pilot and doing what he/she normally does. My goal is not to take away coping skills someone has already developed, even the poor ones, but to add to the choices he/she has so he/she has a more extensive selection to choose from.
As one example, my services benefit clients dealing with depression or anxiety by helping them figure out ways to overcome their condition and providing a variety of tools to use in the future if the problem returns.
It is an honor to learn from my clients and I believe in teamwork. Coaching
and therapy are an exchange of information from which both the
coach/therapist and the client benefit. It is an art in that no two people
are alike and therefore must be treated individually with what works for
that person. Trained as a coach and a clinical psychologist, I am the
expert in my field and the client is the expert on himself/herself. Together
we can make a great team to solve whatever problems the person brings to
each session. My style is to look for what is working in the life of my
client and reflect this back while helping him/her find ways to increase
his/her confidence and effectiveness in their world.
Probably the single most important thing a client can do when looking for a
coach/therapist is making sure they have a good match. The coach/therapist
should be a person with whom they feel safe and can tell their most intimate
secrets to while feeling accepted and not judged, regardless of how shaming
the topic discussed may be.
Many people over the years have worked with me in coaching/therapy to solve
a variety of personal problems. The most common thing they say is that
coaching/therapy was one of best investments of time and money that they
ever made due to the improvements in their lives. What’s keeping you
from making that commitment to yourself? I look forward to hearing from you.
